ABOUT US
The idea for the only, continuously grouted steel core pile, began in 2001 as a response to excessive costs incurred due to over excavation on building sites with insufficient and improper load bearing soil conditions for the installation of concrete foundations. We felt that there had to be an easier, more cost effective foundation solution.
The resulting patented product was developed by Russell Lindsey who has over 25 years of experience in the construction and foundation industry. After 7 years of R&D, this product was developed to be effective in all types of soil conditions and with remarkable ease of installation.
In 2012 Grouted Foundation Systems (GFS) was formed to take this revolutionary foundation product main stream, and now GFS offers a cost effective proprietary system of patented technology and methods for the support and stabilization of all types of foundations.
The GFS Continuously Grouted Steel Core Pile, the TURBO PILETM, stands alone in quality, durability, and cost effectiveness in the foundation industry today. It is the only pile of this type on the market that is pressure grouted continuously throughout the entire installation process.
It is well known throughout the industry that when grout is properly added to a foundation product, the overall capacity of that product is greatly increased. The Engineers of record on any project utilizing a grouted helical pier have one concern: how to verify that grout is being delivered to the entire length of the shaft and into the surrounding soils. Many companies claim that their system uses grout to enhance the loading capacity of the soil, but they can not verify that grout is being delivered to the total length of the steel shaft and incorporated into the surrounding soils.
GFS’s patented TURBO PILETM grouted system monitors the grout return to the surface on the outside of our steel shaft to insure that the total length of the steel shaft and surrounding soils is receiving the proper amount of grout during the installation process, regardless of the length of the steel shaft or the quality of the soil conditions.
The injected grout increases the density of surrounding loose soils and forms a bond to the shaft thus preventing structural settlement. Grout is pumped through the core of the steel pile and exits through the bottom of the first section of pipe through patented holes on the trailing edge of the helixes and then returns alongside the outside of the steel shaft. This provides the patented TURBO PILE continuous grout pressure throughout the installation process to enhance the soil conditions and create greater bonding capacity of the steel shaft to the surrounding soils. This system allows all of our foundation products to achieve greater strength and greatly increased bearing capacity.
Our patented continuously pressurized grouted system offers a full and wide area of support to our foundation products even in poor soil conditions by forming a grouted column around the pier into displaced soils.
We can vary the diameter of either the helixes and/or the shafts to achieve greatly increased capacities over the standard 12” helixes, even in very loose and poor soil conditions.
